Authorship and Contributorship

Dialogues in Cardiovascular Medicine follows the authorship recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the ethical guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity in scholarly publishing.

Authorship Criteria

All listed authors must have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work and should meet all of the following ICMJE criteria:

  • Made significant contributions to the conception or design of the study, or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data.
  • Participated in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
  • Approved the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.
  • Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work and to address questions related to its accuracy or integrity.

Individuals who do not meet all authorship criteria should not be listed as authors but may be acknowledged with their permission.

Contributorship

Authors are encouraged to provide a clear description of each author's individual contributions at the time of submission. Contribution statements may include roles such as study conception, methodology, data collection, formal analysis, investigation, writing, supervision, project administration, funding acquisition, and manuscript review.

Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all eligible contributors are included as authors.
  • Confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
  • Obtaining consent from all co-authors before submission.
  • Managing communication with the Editorial Office during peer review and publication.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the submitted work.

Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be supported by a written explanation and signed agreement from all authors. The Editorial Office will evaluate such requests in accordance with COPE guidance and may require additional documentation before approving any authorship changes.

Authorship Misconduct

The journal does not tolerate gift authorship, guest authorship, honorary authorship, ghost authorship, or any other form of unethical authorship practice. Suspected authorship disputes or misconduct will be investigated following COPE recommendations and may result in manuscript rejection, publication correction, or retraction where appropriate.
