Dialogues in Cardiovascular Medicine follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and internationally accepted ethical standards regarding informed consent and patient confidentiality.
For all research involving human participants, authors must confirm that written informed consent was obtained from all participants or their legally authorized representatives before enrollment in the study. The informed consent process should clearly explain the purpose of the research, potential risks and benefits, data collection procedures, and the participant's right to withdraw without prejudice.
The privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of patients and research participants must be protected at all times. Personal data and information obtained through physician–patient relationships, clinical records, interviews, or other confidential interactions must be handled with the highest level of confidentiality and professional discretion.
Authors must not publish names, initials, photographs, videos, medical record numbers, or any other information that could identify an individual unless explicit written consent for publication has been obtained. If identifying information is essential for scientific purposes, authors must confirm that the participant has reviewed the material and provided written permission for its publication.
The Editorial Office may request copies of informed consent documentation or ethical approval during the editorial or peer-review process. Failure to comply with these requirements may result in manuscript rejection or other editorial action in accordance with COPE guidance.
